A PEAK AT OUR CATTERY

ARIDLANDS OUTDOOR QUEENS ENCLOSURES

Our cattery is situated on our 1acre block in the small country town of Barcaldine.

The designer enclosures are surrounded by large established shade trees & landscaped gardens, with a cool & relaxed, tropical feel.

They are fitted with large hollow logs for sleeping or hiding in, as well as hammocks.

High boardwalks and water features, provide a little entertainment.

We hope to have our entire cattery airconditioned by Summer 2010
as the temperatures here are making it uncomfortable for our cats even with the shade.

WE HAVE ALMOST COMPLETED OUR NEW STUD ACCOMODATIONS - PICS COMING SOON

INDOOR KITTEN ROOMS

All Aridlands kittens are born and raised in our home.
They start out their life adventures being born in our bathroom, where we can keep an eye on their health & developement while they are tiny.
Once they are on their feet & moving about, we transfer them & their Mum to one of the kitten rooms.
These rooms have access to our verandah, so the Mum's can come & go at their leasure & get break from their demanding babies.
In this secure environment the kits can learn to eat solid foods & use the litter tray without any harassment from older kittens.
When the kits are 6 weeks old & have had their 1st vaxs we open the doors & they are allowed to roam the house with the bigger kits.
Since the cages are very open & with the screen doors on the front, older kits & the younger ones, can get to know each other.
This way we avoid the usual spats which occur with new intrductions.

OUTDOOR PORTABLE PLAY PEN

When we think they are old enough, we take Mum & the babies for an out of doors experience in the safety of this portable playpen.
The little kits love this experience & Mum also enjoys getting some sun & laying on the grass.

OUTDOOR KITTEN PLAY/DAY CAGE

This fully screened cage is close to our house & the older kits have a great time exploring all the logs & running a muck.
We have found it very useful when too many kittens riding on the broom & swinging off the mop make house cleaning an impossible task.
It also makes for a great change of scenery for the kits &  sometimes, a much needed break for us.

This cage is also handy for quarantining new comers to our cattery when we have no kitttens using it.
